Ascenda residential elevator dimensions and installation requirements

Installing Ascenda in your home is quick and easy
When it comes to home elevators, Ascenda is designed for quick, easy installation. Due to its small footprint and through-the-floor classification, Ascenda can be installed in 1-2 days.

No elevator pit required
Most elevators need a pit, but through-the-floor elevators like Ascenda do not. Traditional elevators and lifts require extensive groundwork to create a pit; the Ascenda can be installed without any significant structural modifications. That removes one construction task, but the floor still needs to provide suitable support. Your installer will check the proposed location and identify any preparation needed before installation begins.
Planning your elevator’s floor opening
For a through-the-floor installation, an opening must be made in the floor that matches the selected elevator size and the installation drawings. This opening will be a different size than the interior of the elevator car. Compare the cut-out dimensions below, then have your installer confirm the measurements before any cutting or construction begins.

Install Ascenda beside a floor opening that already exists
If there is already an existing opening between floors, then Ascenda can fit right in. In a suitable layout, the elevator can serve the upper landing using a gate arrangement. Your installer will assess the opening, access, and supporting structure to determine whether this option works for your home.
How much overhead clearance does Ascenda need?
Ascenda needs a second landing height of 92 inches, or 7 feet 8 inches, and its 91-inch top height fits under most ceilings, subject to local regulations and site requirements. This means it can fit beneath an existing ceiling without extending all the way to the roof. Talk to your installer before work begins about the clearance needed to install it successfully.
